Monday night, rescue crews in Tipton County successfully located an 81 year-old man who was found alive in a remote area after being missing for three days.
According to the Tipton County Sheriff’s Department, Homer Billings (who suffers from an undisclosed medical condition) was first reported to have left his home last Saturday with plans to go to Caruthersville, Missouri but was last seen in Dyersburg that morning.
Search and rescue crews from throughout West Tennessee proceeded to conduct a massive air and foot rescue mission and finally located Billings around 7:20PM Monday, alive but lying in a densely wooded area in Lake County.
Tipton County Sheriff Shannon Beasley made the following statement:
“First, let us give God the glory for the divine intervention to lead us to Mr. Billings. This was truly a team effort involving many agencies, first responders, family, and individuals who refused to give up. I can’t express my gratitude enough for all that had a hand in providing information and photos, or those that were part of the search in some shape, form, or fashion. What we witnessed yesterday, and over the last 3 days, is truly what Tennesseans are about and represent.”
