On Wednesday, a man who had committed two murders just minutes apart on the same day was found guilty of murder and given a 150-year prison sentence.
According to the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office, Joshua Gossett was sentenced after a jury found him guilty on two charges of first-degree murder in April.
On October 30, 2022, Richard Skelskey and Shunish Baggett were both killed.
According to the prosecution, Gossett used the Lyft app to get to Baggett’s house on Wooddale Avenue, where he shot and killed her. He then requested a lift from the scene using the app again.
Eighty-year-old Lyft driver Richard Skelskey agreed to the request. After Skelskey picked him up, Gossett shot him in the head, stole his vehicle, and drove away.
