Tami Sawyer, the clerk of the Shelby County General Sessions Court, turned herself in to federal custody.
Sawyer and her lawyer, John Keith Perry, were seen entering the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Tennessee on Monday morning.
Sawyer was indicted on federal charges, but the specifics of the case have not been made public.
