Charges have been filed against a preschool teacher in Tipton County for abusing a non-verbal student, according to the Tipton County Sheriff’s Office.
According to law enforcement officials, Katherine Elise Turnbow was taken into custody after witnesses and school authorities filed a complaint with a school resource officer, and proper evidence was gathered.
Turnbow is set to appear before a judge on May 21 at 9 a.m. after posting a $5,000 bond.
Tipton Co. Sheriff Shannon Beasley said, “This is a very unfortunate situation involving a faculty member; however, any actions involving the mistreatment or assault of a child, and in this case, a vulnerable child, simply cannot and will not be tolerated.”
