County Commissioner Amber Mills – District 1, gave an example of how some of the mayor’s grant pool money is used by commissioners.
Commissioner Brooks presented an item for $65,000 to be granted to a friends consulting firm with no volunteers, no employees for the non-profit listed on the request. Mills says that Brooks brought the item back up a 3rd time and suddenly there were two volunteers listed and the requested amount was $32,000 and miraculously the grant request passed.
