Society Memphis on Scott Street recently unveiled a new mural that honors the Bluff City’s hip-hop legacy while also celebrating the next generation of artists and performers.
Painted by Memphis-based artist Toonky Berry, said mural illustrates Memphis rap legends that shaped the city’s street music sound.
“We’re doing it for a positive future. We’re bringing everybody together through street dance, the culture and everything that’s going for the future of the youth,” an organizer stated, as the unveiling event aptly featured youth jookin performances, live music, and speeches from Memphis rap artists.
