For passengers who lack proper documentation to fly, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) will introduce a new identity verification option.
According to TSA, the new ConfirmID technology will try to confirm a traveler’s identification before allowing them to pass through security. Officials stated that approval is not guaranteed, however.
Travelers can start using ConfirmID on February 1st for a $45.
Passports and state-issued REAL IDs are acceptable forms of identification.
Starting Feb. 1, travelers 18+ who do NOT have a REAL ID or other acceptable form of ID can use TSA ConfirmID, pay a $45 fee & have their identity validated. Travelers can use this process to confirm their identity prior to arriving at the airport.
