According to a press release from the Greater Memphis Chamber of Commerce (GMCC), the world’s largest online retailer and tech giant Amazon revealed plans to build the first same-day delivery facility in Memphis.
GMCC clarified that by facilitating local package processing and last-mile operations, the future delivery facility will be crucial in helping Amazon satisfy consumer demand for faster shipping alternatives.
According to the press announcement, operations are expected to start in late 2027 and employ 100 people.
“Memphis is thrilled to welcome Amazon’s new same-day delivery station, a testament to our city’s growing logistics infrastructure and skilled workforce”, said Ted Townsend, President & CEO of the Greater Memphis Chamber. “This investment will create over 100 local jobs and bring faster delivery options to our residents, further solidifying Memphis as a key hub for e-commerce and innovation in the Digital Delta.”
