On Friday, the $14 million project to preserve the cobblestone landing and rejuvenate the riverfront had a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The largest intact cobblestone riverfront landing in the country is located in Memphis and was constructed in the 1800s. However, after years of use, some much-needed repairs have to be done.
Four and a half million dollars will be used to build a new riverboat landing, which will be situated close to the Bass Pro Pyramid, out of the $14 million being spent on maintaining the historic cobblestone landing.
It is expected that the project will be finished by the end of 2026.
