In a plea deal on Monday, a former Memphis Police officer who killed a man while on duty in 2021 received a sentence of more than 38 years.
Patric Ferguson pled guilty to federal charges back in August, saying he abducted Robert Howard, shot him in the back of the head, and dumped his body in the Wolf River.
He was sentenced to 465 months on three counts, and 240 months on two more counts.
According to the prosecution, on January 5, 2021, Ferguson went to the residence of his ex-girlfriend, a fellow MPD officer, while he was on duty and confronted Howard, her new partner.
Ferguson acknowledged putting Howard in the back of his police car, taking him to a parking lot, shooting him, and then driving off.
