Elwood’s Shack on Summer Avenue (next to Lowes at Perkins & Summer) is open today to serve law enforcment and National Guard members. Since the task force has been fighting the crime ridden, violent streets of Memphis, over 3000 arrests have been made. Social media and news reports show that most in the mid-south are thankful for law enforcment making our community safer.
However, a resist group that calls themselves, “Free 901” has called for a boycott of Elwood’s Shack for the simple gesture of serving OUR law enforment and members of the Memphis Safe Task Force. According to US Attorney General Pam Bondi, crime in Memphis has been cut in half and especially violent crimes against law abiding citizens has been reduced in under 60 days since the task force began operations in Memphis. These numbers represent a welcome change for most in the Mid-South. The small group of people at “Free 901” calling for boycotting restaraunts that offer free meals to the law enforcment memebers responsible for lowering crime, seem to want to “re-crime” Memphis.
