A man was arrested after police say he shot a man to death inside the Wolfchase Galleria mall in Cordova on Monday afternoon.
22-year-old Yahir Mejia is accused of second-degree murder. Authorities found him at his residence near Chelsea Avenue in northeast Memphis on Monday, and he was placed under arrest.
Around 2:15 p.m., according to police, they responded to a shooting report at the mall. They found the victim and transported him to the hospital in critical condition.
The man ultimately was pronounced dead at Regional One after suffering several gunshot wounds. An officer’s affidavit identified him as Erik Sandoval.
Yahir Mejia is scheduled to appear in court early on Wednesday.
