A national human rights lawyer has said that he is investigating a student’s death at Delta State University.
A day after De’Martravion Reed was discovered hanging from a tree on the school’s campus, Ben Crump announced on Tuesday that the family had hired him.
Reed was discovered hanging from a tree next to the school’s pickleball courts on Monday morning.
Attorney Crump released a statement regarding his death: “Trey Reed was a young man full of promise and warmth, deeply loved and respected by all who knew him. His family and the campus community deserve a full, independent investigation to uncover the truth about what happened. We cannot accept vague conclusions when so many questions remain. I stand with this family, and I will lead a team of civil rights leaders and organizations in pursuing transparency and answers for Trey’s family.”
According to the Bolivar County coroner, there doesn’t seem to have been any foul play in the case, which is being investigated by several organizations.
