On Monday evening the Collierville Board of Mayor and Aldermen revised the town’s beer regulations to conform to contemporary standards; the amendment is effective immediately.
Even though a few liquor store owners opposed the idea, the decision was unanimous.
Outdated regulations pertaining to the distance from schools and churches, the percentage of sales that must be made from food, and the prohibition on selling beer at establishments with pool tables and dancing are all eliminated.
Additionally, the regulation restricted the number of liquor stores to three: Wilkinson Liquor Store, Poplar Wine & Spirits, and Cheers Wines & Spirits.
One is permitted for every 10,000 residents under the approved amendments.
