
The Supreme Court on Thursday, will not block Mississippi law requiring age verification to use social media. The Justices refused to hear an emergency appeal from a tech group that represents Facebook, X and YouTube. Netchoice is challenging the law passed in Mississippi and other states that require age verification and asked the court to put the laws on hold until the issue is decided on. Justices did not dissent although Justice Bret Kavanaugh did write that there is a chance NetChoice might succeed in showing the laws unconstitutional. ‘
The organization argues that the Mississippi violates privacy rights and unconstitutionally restricts free expression.
