During a traffic stop on Interstate 40 in Haywood County on Wednesday, drugs, money, and firearms were discovered in a rental car, resulting in the arrest of four individuals.
Agents from the West Tennessee Drug Task Force saw a car closely following another vehicle as they were monitoring I-40 in Haywood County.
They discovered three pounds of marijuana in a rental car, 254 pounds of promethazine, commonly referred to as “Lean” or “Purple Drank,” more than 100 opioid pills, and two loaded weapons during the search.
Four persons were taken into custody on various drug and weapon-related allegations, according to agents.
After further investigation, agents found that the promethazine had been very recently stolen from a pharmaceutical supply business in Houston, Texas.
