TIGERS | Former Memphis Star Center To Be Inducted Into The American Basketball Hall of Fame

Former Memphis State and Melrose High basketball star William Bedford has been inducted into the 2025 class of the American Basketball Hall of Fame.

This year, 22 people have been chosen for enshrinement, including Bedford. The Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History in Detroit will host the seventh annual Induction Ceremony on August 17.

The 7-foot center was a vital member of the Tigers’ 1984–85 Final Four squad and helped lead Melrose to the state high school basketball championship in 1983.

He was also drafted in the 1986 NBA Draft where he played six seasons with the Phoenix Suns, Detroit Pistons and San Antonio Spurs.
