LOCAL | MLGW Requests Customers To Conserve Power On Tuesday Evening Due To Intense Heat

MLGW has requested all of its customers to conserve power on Tuesday evening due to the extreme heat that has been sweeping over the Mid-South.

Due to the high power load, the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) initiated its Emergency Load Curtailment Program, which prompted the request.

The following power-saving strategies were provided by MLGW:

– Switch off any electronics and lights that aren’t needed.
– If health permits, bump up the thermostat a few degrees.
– Not to run dryers, washing machines, or dishwashers until nighttime and
– If possible, to restrict the charging of electric vehicles to off-peak hours.
