A $10,000 reward was offered by the FBI on Thursday for information that would result in the capture of a former police chief who was convicted of murder and broke out of an Arkansas jail earlier this week.
Grant Matthew Hardin, aka “Devil of the Ozarks,” broke out of Calico Rock’s medium security North Central Unit jail on Sunday.
According to court filings, the 56-year-old pretended to be a correctional officer and fled the prison through a guarded gate.
Hardin was given a 30-year prison for murder after serving as Gateway’s police chief for around four months in early 2016.
In addition, he is incarcerated for 50 years for the rape of an elementary school teacher in Rogers, north of Fayetteville, in 1997.
