The superintendent of the West Memphis School district has declared a “zero tolerance” policy in reaction to a fight on Wednesday between parents during an elementary school graduation in West Memphis, Arkansas.
The incident is now under investigation.
Several women and men were seen punching each other in the school hallway during the incident at Faulk Elementary, which was caught on camera.
You can hear sounds like children screaming for parents to “stop” in the background of the audio.
Eric Foister, the District’s superintendent, said the district fully supports the prosecution of those responsible.
“We have zero tolerance for any behavior by parents, students, staff, or visitors that disrupts the learning environment or threatens the well-being of anyone on school grounds,” The district said in an official statement. “Such actions are unacceptable and will not be tolerated. The district is fully cooperating with the West Memphis Police Department and will actively support efforts to prosecute those responsible to the fullest extent of the law. We are committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and secure environment at all of our schools.”
