LOCAL | City Of Memphis Announces Riverside Drive To Be Closed Until August

According to the City of Memphis, Riverside Drive will be closed until August of this year for “light construction,” which will add more public parking along the river.

Due to May’s downtown events, parts of Riverside have been temporarily closed since mid-April; nevertheless, the city has since announced that the closure will continue until August 15.

According to the city, the plans also call for a “road diet conversion,” which would narrow this stretch of Riverside to two lanes and make room for more public parking, including a combination of paid and free parking days.

The riverside will continue to be accessible to pedestrians, and detours will be clearly indicated.
