It’s still too close to call in Mississippi, as the Senate race between Scott Colom (D) and Cindy Hyde-Smith (R) is still only separated by less than 2000 votes, as of Thursday morning.
The deciding factor is the remaining 15,000 provisional ballots still pending verification, with the 95.56% of the total votes counted.
“I’m very confident about where we are, and I’m confident we are going to win,” said Colom.
This could be a very historic outcome if Colom wins, because the last time a Democrat was elected a U.S. Senator representing the Magnolia State was in 1982, when incumbent Dem. Senator John C. Stennis won re-election.
As soon as the results are verified, Newstalk 98.9 will update this story.
