West Memphis, Arkansas will soon be offering the first drone delivery service in the Mid-South, as a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held yesterday at the city’s Walmart which will be offering the service to what they hope will be 40 million customers by 2027.
The city said that standard delivery fees will apply with every order but that Walmart+ members are eligible for free drone delivery on certain orders for a limited time.
The city shared the exciting news on social media, stating, “Soon, your Walmart orders will be delivered right to your doorstep by a DRONE! From Google’s $4 billion investment to new businesses, West Memphis continues to lead the way in technology and innovation. From the ground to the sky, West Memphis continues to move forward with new technology, innovation, and opportunities for our community!”
