After escaping from the Northwest Correctional Complex in Tiptonville, Tennessee, 28-year old convict Jacob Morley’s stolen truck was found abandoned in Southern Illinois Tuesday.
Morley was charged in 2022 with the murder of Cody Birchfield, with whom he worked at a pallet company in Elizabethton.
The current reward for information leading to Morley’s capture was increased to $10,000 by TN Governor Bill Lee yesterday, with U.S. Marshals offering an additional $5,000 reward in this manhunt.
Relatives of the victim have recently criticized the lack of communication about this escape and are warning the public about the danger Morley poses, with Birchfield’s cousin Eric Mohler stating, “He killed my cousin in cold blood. I mean, I wouldn’t put it past him doing it again, you know? Definitely watch out. People, be careful!”
Anyone with leads on Morley’s whereabouts are asked not to approach the suspect but instead contact local law enforcement or call 1-800-TBI-FIND.
