The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office has successfully captured the suspect connected to the lockdown that took place at Arlington Elementary School yesterday.
21 year-old Miguel Carranza is being charged with four counts of aggravated assault and evading and resisting official detention, in connection to a previous warrant he was being served for.
Police said that Carranza initially resisted arrest after fleeing from a basketball court on Airline Rd where he was involved in an armed disturbance, being spotted behind a Little Caesars on the same street before ultimately being apprehended.
The choice to put the students of Arlington Elementary School on lockdown was made due to the school being close to the pizza shop where Carranza was spotted.
Parents were reunited with their children shortly before 6:00PM, and fortunately no students were hurt during the suspenseful incident.
