Following the leaked body-cam footage of the Kohen Wiley fatal shooting, the family members and Attorney Ben Crump held a press conference on Thursday stating that the crime of shoplifting didn’t justify the murder of a baby.
“We have made these observations: That this was excessive from the very start. I mean, they came out with guns drawn for a shoplifting misdemeanor?” Crump said. “Shoplifting diapers is a misdemeanor. It doesn’t warrant the death penalty.”
The actual verified footage is set to be released at some point on Thursday, but it was leaked earlier this week. This all comes after the ruling that shooting was justified by the Mississippi Attorney General.
On June 14, Kohen was killed while sitting on his mother’s lap inside a vehicle leaving a Walmart parking lot after shoplifting and attempting to escape police custody.
When the footage officially releases, it will be found here on Newstalk989.com.
