The Shelby County Health Department has forced the closure of the Happy Mexican at 7935 Winchester Rd due to “multiple health violations,” according to a notice posted on the restaurant’s window.
According to a Health Department spokesperson, the restaurant was being investigated due to complaints about food borne illnesses.
This comes despite the Happy Mexican recently receiving an inspection score of 94 on September 16th (although scores have been as low as 65 in 2025 and 61 in 2024).
As stated by a handwritten note on the window, the Happy Mexican will be “Temporarily Closed Until Further Notice,” and further information on this closure is pending at this time.
