While on the job on Tuesday, a Memphis paving company employee was killed after being struck by a pickup truck on the Mississippi interstate.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol reported the accident happened around 1:30p.m. in Grenada County.
Reports indicated that a Ford F-250 driven by a Philadelphia man collided with 36-year-old Nicholas Rice of Grenada, MS. His injuries were fatal and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
He was working with Lehman-Roberts, a Granite Company, who confirmed he was the one that was struck and killed while working.
Lehman-Roberts said the paving operations on I-55 will be suspended until next week.
