The Shelby County Commission has concluded its first vote on the proposed data center moratorium, with the “yeas” outweighing the “nays” five to four with four abstaining.
Commissioners are hoping said moratorium will allow ample time to establish proper rules for possible future data center developments.
Questions arise, however, about whether the county government even has the authority to impose a moratorium.
In the meantime, another vote on these matters is expected to occur next week.
