Former Shelby County Commissioner Edmund Ford Jr. is facing a sentence of 2 years in prison and 2 years of supervised probation.
This comes after his he was taken into federal custody in February of 2025 and charged with bribery and kickback regarding federal funds.
He was also facing six counts of attempted tax evasion.
Notably after the sentencing, the judge reportedly suggested Ford Jr. serve his time around the Memphis area.
“You can put this behind you. Memphis is a needy place, and there’s a lot to be done when you get out,” the judge said.
“I accept full responsibility for all of my actions, and the decisions I made were completely wrong. I have no excuses, no excuses at all,” Ford Jr. said. “I’ve also caused pain to my family because of what I did. May 25, 2023 should have never happened; that was my fault.”
Ford Jr. has 45 days to return to court.
