Racing fans throughout the Mid-South have cause for celebration, as today marks the 39th birthday of Ricky Stenhouse Jr., who was born in Memphis, TN in 1987 but grew up in Olive Branch, Mississippi.
While initially growing up watching his dad, Ricky Stenhouse Sr., race sprint cars, the junior Stenhouse first cut his teeth in the racing world at the age of 6 racing go-karts, securing 47 wins and 90 podium finishes before moving on to sprint cars like his father.
Stenhouse’s real claim to fame, however, would come when he beat Joey Logano to win the Daytona 500 for the first time in 2023.
Additionally, Stenhouse would make his 500th career NASCAR Cup Series start in 2026, becoming just one of 49 racers in the industry’s history to do so.
News Talk 98.9 would like to wish Ricky Stenhouse Jr. a very happy birthday and many more successful years of racing.
