The Shelby County DA’s Office announced that almost 30,000 packages of synthetic kratom were taken off the streets from a business based in Memphis.
Novelty King in Binghampton is allegedly the store that has been reported as a major supplier of illegal kratom.
All across the Mid-South, gas stations, vape shops, and other relative stores have been getting their Kratom from Novelty King.
Kratom was only made illegal in Tennessee back in July 1, but before that, it was available for purchase from just about any kind of store.
This crackdown all comes from the recent story about two Ole Miss student deaths in their Oxford, Miss. dorms. Even though the deaths weren’t classified as Kratom overdoses, the drug was found packaged during the investigation.
This also comes from another recent story where Oxford Police revived a 22-year-old from an actual kratom overdose.
