After more than a century in Midtown, the Brooks Museum has officially closed its Overton Park location, but there is hope on the horizon for Bluff City art fans.
Originally founded in 1916, the Brooks Museum of Art holds the title of being the oldest and largest art museum in the state of Tennessee.
However, after saying goodbye to its former Overton Park home, the Brooks Museum will begin its new life as the Memphis Art Museum, located at Front St. and Union Ave.
With doors set to open on December 6th, the Memphis Art Museum will feature such amenities as a 10,000 square-foot community courtyard and a 50,000 square-foot rooftop sculpture garden, with 50% more gallery space than its Midtown location as well.
The Memphis Art Museum will be offering free admission for Shelby County residents.
