The identities of two students that were found dead in the campus of Ole Miss earlier this week have been revealed.
18-year-old Aiden Hamilton, and 20-year-old Robert Strang were the names confirmed by friends of the students, despite the university not confirming or denying the names of the victims.
Packaged Kratom was found on the scenes, according to the Lafayette County Metro Narcotics team.
The cause of death has not yet been confirmed. Known on the street as “gas station heroin,” Kratom is not legal for sale in the city of Oxford or Lafayette County, but is legal in other communities in Mississippi.
The Food and Drug Administration has not authorized kratom. Between 2014 and 2019, poison control centers received over 3,400 reports of kratom use, including fatalities.
