It was a scene straight out of a Hollywood movie, as a car traveling behind a big rig hauling a large pole on I-55, is struck through the windshield by the pole. Memphis Police report that one woman was taken to an area hospital in non-critical condition. The police report did not state whether the truck driver was issued a citation.
Stats compiled by the NHTSA show that 1 in 14 highway incidents involve commercial trucks. Tennessee has had 1,490 fatal crashes involving large trucks for the ten year period 2014-2024.
