A nearly 50-year-old cold case was finally closed following the arrest of a 68-year-old man living in Whitehaven.
James Terry Fowler was arrested after he was suspected of strangling Ralph Gianoli in Wisconsin in 1977. An electrical cord was discovered tied around his neck.
That case had been cold for nearly 50 years.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) secured a warrant for his DNA and fingerprints in January 2025 and began tracking him.
According to detectives, he was also found guilty of shooting and killing his father. However, the charges were later downgraded from murder to manslaughter.
