The Crockett County Sheriff’s Office reports that a manhunt is currently in progress after an inmate broke out of the Crockett County Jail.
Gerald Pete Samples, 59, escaped on Wednesday morning, according to deputies.
At the time of his escape, he was reportedly 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighed around 207 pounds, and wearing brown pants and a brown shirt.
According to the sheriff’s office, Samples should be regarded as a career criminal because he has a history of escaping, having escaped from custody in 2020.
Gibson County is the main target of the manhunt, and authorities are advising anyone in Tennessee who spots Samples to call 911.
