Marie Feagins, the former superintendent of Memphis-Shelby County Schools (MSCS), has filed another lawsuit claiming that she was subjected to unfair retaliation and gender discrimination.
Feagins is suing the school district for the second time.
The former MSCS leader asserted in the most recent case, which was submitted on Thursday to the U.S. District Court in Western Tennessee, that her male predecessors received preferential treatment after breaking district policies.
According to the lawsuit, former MSCS Superintendent Joris Ray, who resigned amid an investigation into improper relationships with employees, negotiated a nearly half-million dollar buyout.
Towanna Murphy, a member of the MSCS Board, is also specifically targeted in Feagins’ latest lawsuit, which alleges that she made false accusations against Feagins for vehicle theft, stalking, harassment, and fraud.
