He served at Bellevue Baptist Church as senior pastor for nearly two decades. Beloved Pastor Steve Gaines has passed.
A statement was released today.
“Although his decline happened quickly, Steve had peace in his heart and was looking forward to being reunited with his parents and going home to be with the Lord,” Mandrell wrote. “We’re thankful that he’s with them now, fully healed and more joyful than he’s ever been in the presence of God.”
In 2023 Pastor Gaines announced his cancer diagnosis and officially retired from his position at Bellevue in 2025.
Wes Bowen, chairman of the deacons said “it was hard to watch him go through this cancer, but he has done it with such incredible grace and positive attitude – encouraging others while he’s going through the hardest physical thing he’s ever gone through.”
