In response to charges of tax fraud and property theft, the founder of Wing Guru restaurants entered a no contest plea on Thursday.
Billy Richmond Jr. was accused of two felonies: stealing items valued at more than $250,000 and falsifying state tax income. In March 2025, Richmond was indicted.
The indictment accused him of attempting to avoid paying state sales taxes between 2018 and 2022.
In a Facebook post, Richmond admitted that Wing Guru hired specialists to handle financial reporting, but he accepted responsibility for managing finances.
“Again, I maintain that I did not intentionally or willfully misreport or falsify any financial documents; however, my lack of oversight makes me responsible as the owner,” Richmond said. “I am committed to paying the full restitution, using this as a learned lesson, and moving forward to strengthen the Wing Guru brand.”
