Jamie Mayo, the mayor of Gallaway, Tennessee, had his drug charges dropped in court on Wednesday, according to his lawyer, John Keith Perry.
On November 7, Mayo, 65, was taken into custody following a traffic stop in Tipton County. He was seated in a car when deputies discovered 0.25 grams of crack cocaine beneath the passenger seat.
Mayo had been charged with drug possession, manufacturing/delivering/selling a controlled substance, and drug paraphernalia.
Maintaining his innocence, Mayo filed a federal complaint against Tipton County authorities last month, claiming that the detention was unconstitutional and seeking $3 million in damages plus punitive damages.
