According to the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office, a Memphis mother who has been abusing her four-year-old son will serve 17 and a half years in prison.
DaJuana Brown Thomas pleaded guilty to charges of aggravated child abuse under the age of eight.
According to the police, the inside doorknob of her son’s room was removed, and he held in isolation for nine months.
The child was ill, covered in waste, and malnourished when he was taken to the hospital.
He spent several weeks being treated in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit before he could be released.
