In addition to her current position as Shelby County Clerk, Wanda Halbert has pulled petitions to run for three county office seats in the May 5 primary elections.
This is in spite of the fact that the county clerk is only allowed to serve two terms in a row.
According to records made public by the county’s election board at the end of last week, Halbert also pulled her petitions to run for Criminal Court Clerk and Shelby County Trustee.
Those petitions to run for county office must be submitted by Thursday at noon.
On May 5, voters will be asked to select between Democrats and Republicans in the primary elections for a number of important county positions, such as the County Commission and the Mayor.
