A final vote to close five Memphis-Shelby County schools is anticipated on Wednesday, putting the decision in the hands of school board members.
The school system is doing all of this in an attempt to concentrate on building more contemporary schools.
For months, teachers, parents, and students have been keeping an eye on this crucial gathering.
Lucy Elementary, Frayser-Corning Elementary, Georgian Hills Elementary, Ida B. Wells Academy, and Chickasaw Middle are among the schools that are impacted.
Board members had one more opportunity last night to clarify the rationale behind closures and address any unanswered issues
School buildings will be demolished, sold, or used for other purposes if the closures are authorized. On June 30, this would take effect.
