Chief Deputy Sheriff Anthony Buckner joins Ditch & Tim Monday morning at 8:30 to update us no this heroic rescue.
Two brothers 12 and 7 were walking on a pond at Southwind Lakes Apartments when the ice broke and they both fell through into the water. The emergency call came in at 8:15pm Friday night and SCSO deputies were on sight at 8:19 when two sheriff’s deputies jumped in the pond with no hesitation to rescue the boys.
Both boys were taken to Baptist Pediatric Hospital and treated. The 12 year old boy was in non critical condition. His 7 year old brother is still in the hospital as of Saturday afternoon and listed in critical condition.
This is a critical time to remind parents that while water on the surface may be frozen, it is not safe to attempt to walk on the surface.
