As the winter storm approaches the Mid-South, Memphis Light, Gas, and Water says it is bracing itself for the worst.
A severe wintry storm is predicted, which could result in blocked roads, downed trees, and extensive power outages.
MLGW reports that power and water service interruptions could occur for several days despite continuing preparations. MLGW advises locals to be prepared for extended power and water interruptions.
According to Doug McGowen, CEO of Memphis Light Gas & Water, the region may receive half an inch of ice, which increases the possibility of power outages.
There may be multiple days of below-freezing temperatures ahead – which increases the chances that pipes will burst.
