The highly anticipated news that the abandodned Memphis International Raceway or Memphis Motorosports Park as most remember it as, will be making a comeback in 2026. Under new ownership, the track will ROAR back in 2026 as the host track for the IHRA World Finals in October.
Darana Motorsports Park Millington, will be the operating name according to reports during the announcment at the 2025 PRI Show in Indianapolis. The Memphis International Raceway property includes an .83 mile dragstrip, a three quarter mile ovel (tri) and a road course. IHRA will operate the track and does plan to schedule racing on the oval track. Grandstand seating was mostly sold off by previous owners, but at capacity, could seat 35,000 at the oval and 25,000 on the dragstrip. Other structures have been vandalized and copper stolen, so stuctual rehabilitation will be required to get the tower, suites, pits and conncessions usable.
