After a video of General Sessions Court Clerk Tami Sawyer’s interaction with courthouse security guards was made public, the district attorney’s office has decided not to file criminal charges against her.
Released body cam showed the exchange between Sawyer and deputies, after her personal security guard apparently entered the building with a gun on Oct. 7.
According to D.A. Steve Mulroy, an investigation was launched, video was examined, and witnesses were questioned, but no criminal activity was discovered.
Mulroy said in a statement, “There is simply no evidence that Clerk Sawyer solicited, aided or directed her security guard to bypass Courthouse security. Her interaction with sheriff deputies did not appear to violate any state law.”
