Starting today, the Memphis Area Transit Authority’s Zero Fare Pilot Program was introduced by Mayor Paul Young and members of the City Council.
Travelers can use any of MATA’s services for free.
The 90-day project is intended to increase public transportation accessibility and reduce financial burden for regular riders.
According to MATA, data will be gathered throughout the program’s duration to examine the effects of fare-free transit.
“Public transportation is a lifeline for thousands of Memphians. Starting November 16, the @mem_council and @RideMATA are launching a 90-day Zero Fare pilot program to help riders save money and to increase ridership.”https://t.co/uyRC6eJ1Qa
