After fifty years of operation, a popular college bar on East Memphis’ Highland Strip is shutting down.
On Thursday night, the owner of Newby’s announced on Facebook and Instagram that their contract had ended and that the current owner would not be renewing the lease.
The bar will be closing its doors on November 30. Newby’s was established in 1975 by David “Newby” Harsh.
“The past 10 years here at Newby’s have been nothing short of memorable and fun. This cherished gathering place has been more than just a bar; it has been a home away from home for countless patrons.”
